I'm about to give up on syncing with Yojimbo. It still wasn't syncing
correctly to .Mac (yes, I've tried _every_ one of the suggested
fixes), and yesterday I tried to reset my sync data on .Mac. Now it
asks me every time (I have it set to sync every hour) whether I want
to allow Yojimbo to sync data, yet it never sends _anything_ any
more, and I see no data being sent...
I know part of this is probably on Apple's end, but this is really
dismal.

I feel your pain.
My sync works fine for a couple weeks, then fails inexplicably. I
then go through various hoops to re-establish it - usually refreshing
everything from one of the machines.
This random failure is maddening. (I have also had failures with
bookmarks & addresses, but these are rare.)
As of my 1.3 upgrade, sync has failed again.

Add me to the list; Syncing no longer works after I updated Yojimbo to version 1.3.

I borked syncing with MySync today (after I upgraded to Yojimbo 1.3) but
since I was in a hurry, I didn't get to solve the issue.
I'll have another go later (when I get home).
Cheers

I use MySync. I did have problems after upgrading to Y1.3, but after
several attempts and resetting sync data, its been working fine for
the last few days (I'm probably tempting fate by posting this!)

Since upgrading to Yojimbo 1.3, syncing Yojimbo items with MySync
consistently fails. Resetting sync data in MySync did not help.

Same here. In the Console windows, message like this keeps popping up
everytime I sync. It didn't fail completely, but only the new data get
pushed not the old data.

I seem to have intermittent problems with MySync and am unable to sync
at all with .Mac. I have disabled Yojimbo from .Mac and am still
continuing to use MySync. I contacted the MySync developer who did
promise to send me an updated beta, but nothing has come through in
spite of reminders over the last couple of weeks.
What seems to work for me (although not totally consistently) is to
copy my Yojimbo database manually so that it is the same on both
machines, then sync. That seems to set things ok and syncing then
works for a while.
It's a great pity that syncing is so flaky, since the ability to sync
between my laptop and desktop machines is one of the major attractions
of Yojimbo for me.

Yes, I have the some Problem.
I use now
http://mac.sillydog.org/backup/yojimbo_backup.php
Quickpick to backup the Yojimbo Database, from my MacBookPro -> Main
(G5)Harddisk.
And there I click Restore.
This QuickPick is nice for Backup..

For my problem, it is solved by clearing local sync info. After
several days of trying everything I can think of, including
uninstalling and fresh-installing MySync, I concluded the problems
originated in Yojimbo, so I contacted the tech support. Within hours,
I got a useful reply.
Thanks, Bare Bone.
This is what I did.
1. First I quit all applications that use .Mac syncing, i.e., Address
Book, Safari, iCal, Mail, and of course Yojimbo.
2. I quit MySync. (For those who use .Mac, just turned off .Mac
syncing, according to Support email.)
3. I issued these commands.
killall SyncServer syncuid
mv ~/Library/Application\ Support/SyncServices/Local/ ~/Desktop/
killall SystemUIServer
4. I launched MySync and then Yojimbo.
5. I relaunched MySync to select Yojimbo as the application for synchronization.
(For those who use .Mac, just open and then re-open .Mac preference pane)
6. I just sync all my data as if it was the first syncing. Everything
is back to normal.
The reason that this method works for me is because I got these
message in my Console windows indicating that there were some
discrepency in my SyncServer cache. Check your console while it's
syncing.

Anyway, I hope these helps.

Ivan,
I got similar advice from Barebones and when it didn't work they sent
me a slightly more elaborated procedure that may help. I've added a
few notes of my own having gone through it.
First, make sure you have a backup of your Yojimbo library and other
key .Mac sync info before proceeding just in case. The Yojimbo
library is in Users/myUser/Library/Application Support/Yojimbo
Then on each of your Macs:
* Quit Yojimbo and all other apps which employ .Mac syncing (Address
Book, etc.).
* Turn off syncing in the .Mac panel of System Preferences, and close
the System Preferences app.
* Issue the following three commands in the Terminal to halt
synchronization and delete your local sync data:
killall SyncServer syncuid
mv ~/Library/Application\ Support/SyncServices/Local/ ~/Desktop/
killall SystemUIServer
After you've taken the above steps, you'll need to reconfigure
your .Mac sync settings as follows:
* Bring up the .Mac settings panel
* Turn the "Synchronize with .Mac" option back on, and choose a sync
period of "Every Hour"
* Close the .Mac settings panel
* Launch Yojimbo
* Reopen the .Mac settings panel and select the applications
(including Yojimbo) whose info you want to synchronize.
* Turn the "Synchronize with .Mac" option off, and then back on
* Close the .Mac settings panel
Next steps:
----------
Once you've completed the above procedure on each of your Macs,
choose whichever machine has the "best" data and start a manual sync
from that machine via the .Mac system prefs panel.
When you do this, you will be asked how to handle the info for each
of the apps you're syncing, and you should choose the option to merge
your info; for Yojimbo in particular, you will also be shown a second
dialog in which you must choose to allow Yojimbo to sync your data.
Then, as each of your other Macs sync (you may need to perform a
manual sync once on each machine to "kickstart" the process), you
should be prompted for how to handle the sync on each, and you should
choose the option to merge your local data with data from .Mac.
Note: this last step can take some time - on my Mac it happened sort
of out-of-the-blue 5 minutes after the previous procedure, so do wait
a bit before despairing!
Cheers,
Pat
One thing however,

Thanks for the detailed walkthrough, Ivan & Patrick. Unfortunately it
did not work in my case. When starting the "first" sync (MySync, not
..Mac), I almost immediately get the following error on my MacBook:
Syncing failed for com.mildmanneredjanitor.MySync.jpk@[Protected] (you
referenced the following records (in a relationship) but did not
actually push them: (
"com.apple.syncservices:80D87BE5-80DB-4E67-8E04-B48798867FE3",
"com.apple.syncservices:DCD486C8-9F38-4CFD-9B47-C898DFB14E6C",
[etcetera]
.... followed by a "Sync failed" message on my desktop machine.
I guess I'll wait for a MySync update and try again then. In the
meantime I'll keep the two machines synchronized by hand.
