Good morning!
I searched my privat list archive, but found nothing.
So, sorry if that has been covered:
Is there an AppleScript available to bring one or more selected
messages in Mail into a selected collection in Yojimbo?
Thanks in advance
W.

There are methods to add items to Yojimbo, but I don't
know of any way to add them to a specific collection.
(and I've never tried scripting Mail.app, so I don't
know how easy it is to get something useful out of it)

Hi Wolfgang
To store messages in Yojimbo, I use the PDF > Print to Yojimbo option
from the File > Print dialog.

Peter

Peter:
That is what I do and what works for me.
I was thinking more in the line of: selecting a thread im Mail, and
having one Yojimbo item with all selected mail...

I agree it would be nice, but current versions of Apple Mail do not provide
enough information in the drag for us to do anything useful with.

If you can get the data out of Apple Mail using AppleScript, you can
put it into Yojimbo in a single item.
I'm not an expert on scripting Apple Mail, but something along these
lines should work. Put it in your system script menu or favorite
third party global script menu.
on generateMessageText(m)
tell application "Mail"
set _sender to sender of m
set _subject to subject of m
set _date to date received of m as string
set _contents to content of m
set _messageString to "From: " & _sender & return
set _messageString to _messageString & "Subject: " & _subject & return
set _messageString to _messageString & "Date: " & _date & return
set _messageString to _messageString & return & return & _contents
end tell
end generateMessageText
on run
tell application "Mail"
tell message viewer 1
set messageList to selected messages
set _name to subject of item 1 of messageList
set _contents to ""
repeat with m in messageList
set _contents to _contents & my generateMessageText(m)
end repeat
tell application "Yojimbo"
make new note item with properties {contents:_contents, name:_name}
end tell
end tell
end tell
end run

Thanks a lot

Using the free Mail.app ehancement Mail Act-On, you can attach Jim's
script to a keystroke and get Mail Messages into Yojimbo with the
press of that keystroke.

Is it, via AppleScript, possible to set the collection into which the
new note should be filed?
Thanks.
Kind regards,

It is not - collections are not currently exposed to the scripting
interface. (Feature requested noted already - no need to write to
support :-)).
