Hi All,
Though many in the Lasso community have already heard the sad news,
Angie passed away on Friday.
Prior to getting married to Tommy Martin, she was known as Angie Ahl.
She did change her name after their marriage earlier this year, and
wanted to be remembered as Angie Martin.
Angie was one of the true pioneers of the Lasso community.
Her contribution to the Lasso community was absolutely immense.
Angie and I often talked offlist about ways to move our programming
ahead - about how to bring levels of functionality into reality that
no one else was doing yet. Her level of understanding of the most
abstract concepts, and how turn them into code was absolutely
astounding.
She pioneered the error.lasso method, which so many people use today.
She was also the first to figure out how to build search engine
friendly URL's with Lasso. She contributed a ton of innovations, too
many to list. Her contribution to the Lasso community is immeasurable.
I spoke to Angie by phone a few weeks ago, and despite her illness
she was positive, keeping strong, and even planning the next version
of her Weblobe system. She really personified that "never give up"
attitude.
Not only have we lost one of the most talented programmers on the
planet, and a true innovator (in every sense of the word), but we
have lost a truly great person, and a true friend.
Rest in peace my friend, you will be sorely missed.

Adam,
I've been dealing with an ill father and had not yet heard. This is
truly sad news. I have always felt humbled by Angie's "never give up"
attitude towards her situation. Her presence in the community will be
sorely missed.

For anyone wishing to do so, Tommy has asked donations be directed to "Hospice at Home" -- I made a donation using their on-line system:

There's a spot for a memo at the very end of the process after you've donated; that's where I specified it was in memory of Angie Martin.

Speaking of donations, the Red Cross is desperately low on blood
platelets. White blood cells provide great relief to cancer patients
who are undergoing chemo. I have been donating regularly since my
sister died of breast cancer last year. In fact, I'll be going this
afternoon. It takes a bit more time than donating red blood cells (a
few hours) but the inconvenience is nothing compared to what the
recipients go through every day. I will be thinking about Angie when I
donate.
