I don't know if this has been covered or not. I did search the
previous messages, but didn't see it, so I apologize in advance if
this is something that has already been addressed.
I am trying to export summary data (count of an item) to a different
table within the same FileMaker Pro database (v8.5 or greater).
Essentially, I am:
1. Importing UPC Codes collected in a spreadsheet (a CSV file). Each
item is scanned on the floor (Location1) or in an inventory location
(Location2) with a MacBook and a barcode scanner, so a UPC could
appear multiple times in the spreadsheet(s). There are two locations
that we are summarizing for variance calculations, so there are two
spreadsheets. The customer does not want to scan a UPC and enter a
quantity. Field: UPC
2. Using a summary layout, we are summarizing each location by UPC
Codes with the Count function and exporting the summary count into a
two (2) separate FileMaker Pro database, one for each location.
Fields: UPC and UPC_Count
3. These two (2) separate FileMaker Pro databases are then
consolidated into the initial FileMaker database with two (2)
imports. The data is deleted from the table, the first summarized
data is imported into the UPC and Location1 fields, and then the
second summarized data is imported matching data in the UPC field for
Location2 and adding any additional UPC Codes.
Is there a way to export to a table within the initial database to a
different table rather than having multiple databases? Or another
approach I have not considered?
Thank you,
